I believe there are only two of these known in the hobby (correct me if I'm wrong). I have in my records that at least one was found in New Jersey in an old pole hole and has been known in the hobby since the early 1970s. This is an odd little insulator, not much larger than a standard pony in size. A bail was designed to grasp the line wire and lock it in place, much like a lightning bail employed on some early fruit jars and beer bottles. Two opposing sides of the insulator have flat surfaces with indentions for attachment of the bail system. A clever design, wonder why it didn't catch on...maybe too costly to manufacture? Archie Poepple of Bridgeton, NJ unearthed the CD 141.6 found in New Jersey. Arch was a telephone lineman, and he had a fantastic collection of colored Americans. The insulator went to a collector living on the outskirts of metropolitan Elmer, NJ, after which I lost track of its lineage.
