The old bridge was built in 1880's it spanned a 300' gap in the valley 95' above Clear Creek. In June 1939 it was torn down and sold to Silver Plume Mine & Mill Co. for use in mining trestles. In June of 1983 construction of the 16 concrete piers were started for the new bridge shown in this photo. The design adheres as close as possible to the original and on June 1,1984 the new bridge was opened to the public. Look up georgetownloop.com and click on History for full details.
