Note the Denver and Rio Grande narrow gauge train that looks like a distant piece of yarn. One false step and it would be a 20 second freefall to the tracks themselves. Miners were forced to bring tons and tons of equipment up these precipitous trails from the railheads on foot or the backs of burros to get to the mine heads. |
