It is generally understood that most, if not all, of these distinctive two-tone multiparts originated from a 46kV line built by Minnesota Power (& Light) between Sandstone and their Thomson hydro plant near Duluth, and the main route generally followed state highways 23 and 123. A peek in Google Maps, however, shows that this line has been completely rebuilt between Sandstone and Kerrick. The line between Kerrick and Military Road is largely untouched, and Minnesota Power is reportedly set to wreck out the segment north of Military Road (the last leg towards Thomson). |
