Here's a rare snow white porcelain no-tie insulator (on the right) that most likely originates from France but was used in Spain. Measures 3" x 5 1/4". The color, squared shoulder, and wide claws rule out England (seen on left in the photo in a cream color) and Portugal (which were made with rounded shoulder and brown glaze). The squared shoulder rules out Germany and Spain. The rare marked Spain example (Manufactures Ceramicas) has a rounded shoulder- a totally different mold!

I have early French insulator catalogs (Vedovelli-Priestley and J.Mizery) from the same era as this no-tie (circa 1900-10) and their insulators are primarily squared shoulders with straight skirts and snow white porcelain. Additional evidence is seen in the "Asturies" model no-tie insulator (of the same era) that was made in France and has a squared shoulder [id=708803208]. I've only seen 2 examples in this mold style with the wide claws, snow white glaze and squared shoulder.

The insulator is in VNM condition with small chip on one claw and small flake on the underside of other claw with small wire rub and minor rust in the slot. This example is unlisted in all the books and NIA website!
