I've encountered a few of these deformed Diamond CD 102s over the years, but this piece is really quite exceptional. The threads have a whitish, cloudy surface texture all over and numerous large cavities and bubbles protruding in various directions. Close examination of the whitish texture reveals that there are thousands of tiny micro bubbles clinging to the interior surface of the pinhole that give it this appearance. I suspect this may have been caused by steam or pressure from some gas that formed when the threading mandrel was inserted into the molten glass. The big bubbles and odd pinhole texture really jump out when backlit, especially in a sunny window. In excellent condition with only one tiny fleabite on the skirt to the right of one of the diamonds, and another even tinier fleabite on the upper wire ridge of the same side. I don't see any flakes or cracks. I'll call this one "NM". I'm asking $130 USD plus actual shipping cost for this character piece. I'm always happy to trade for early Canadian glass or Canadian-made porcelain insulators. I have a long-standing want list of Canadian-made porcelain posted, [id=505519866; please click here to see it]. I accept PayPal, or personal cheque from any member of ICON or any collector with whom I have dealt before. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or for more photos, and look through my other items or unsold sales stock to combine shipping on items. |
