Here's a great piece that just doesn't come along every day. These M-2255s in grey are unique to here in Ontario, as far as I know. The Hydro Electric Power Commission of Ontario used these on a number of its earliest distribution lines and periodically they turn up. I found a really nice one in a junk shop earlier this year, which resulted in this example getting the boot from my collection. This example is a grey-dominated shade (whereas some of these have a lot more green than this one), and it has some awesome missing glaze spots and thick pooling spots on the lower shell. This one has been re-cemented from two mint shells, both of which I dug personally from a powerhouse dump site here in London, Ontario. The cement isn't original, but the porcelain is in excellent shape and this piece displays with a lot of its best character on one side. I only see two tiny BB pings on the back end of one of the ears. There are also some tiny nibbles on the upper wire ridge in the front, but I can't tell if these are perhaps from manufacture as they're very small and could be open glaze bubbles. |
