As I was writing this series of listings an insulator that I purchased arrived in the mail. I thought I would share some of my receiving practices: 1. I take a photo or two of the outside of the box. The Post Office requires this before they will honor an insurance claim. 2. Maybe this is unique to Arizona, but I let shipments sit in the box for a few hours to come to room temperature before I open them. A collector friend of mine sent a several hundred dollar insulator to an auction. It arrived cleanly broken in two. Neither location was in Arizona. We supposed that a dramatic temperature swing must have caused a crack to travel. There was no impact to the box, and he did not insure. |
