Four WAMX GP38-2's leading a daily local between Asheville and Canton, NC. 8/31/2024. NOTE: the consist is utilizing a raised track that is above the flood zone of the French Broad River which is just west of the NS Asheville yard. In the foreground are the two NS through tracks. Since the NS stopped running transcontinental runs through Asheville, these tracks are only seeing 1 or 2 trains a day. They were built and reinforced with continuous rail for heavy through traffic.
