This "wide groove" version of the Canadian Porcelain-made signal style, U-2231, is encountered much less often than the common U-2239 with the narrower groove. I'm offering a pair of Canadian Porcelain (CP) incused U-2231s in two different colours. At left is a relatively common sky tone or grey glaze, and at right is an almost unheard of and very scarce white (sort of creamy/off white) glaze. The sky tone examples were used in significant numbers on the Canadian Pacific Railway system, while the origins of the white glazed example remain unknown to me at this time. I've seen only a few of the white glazed examples. The white example in this pair has a great glazed-over chip on the rear upper wire ridge to give it some added character.

The sky tone example at left has a 1 cm wide flat flake on the outer base edge on the rear side. The white glazed example has a 5 mm flake on the front base edge, below and to the right of the CP incuse. There is also a 4.5 cm bruise associated with this flake, but it hugs the bottom and inner edges of the skirt so it isn't visible at all when the piece is viewed from the front.

I'm now asking $30 USD plus shipping for this pair. I'm always happy to trade for early Canadian glass or Canadian-made porcelain insulators. I have a long-standing want list of Canadian-made porcelain posted, [id=505519866; please click here to see it]. I accept PayPal, or personal cheque from any member of ICON or any collector with whom I have dealt before. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or for more photos, and look through my other items or unsold sales stock to combine shipping on items.
