Here's one that is rarely seen, even here in Ontario where they seem to turn up. Currently this piece appears to be unlisted. It's nearly identical to the [050] Brookfield CD 102 EIN, with just a backwards '5' on the dome, "BROOKFIELD" on the front, and "NEW YORK" on the back, with sharp drips on the base. The skirt is slightly concave on this example, and the embossing is weaker and thinner towards its bottom, suggesting the bottom of the skirt may be more flared outwards due to a mold reworking. Most significant is the presence of a very prominent, bizarre series of blotted circles on the rear skirt behind the "NEW YORK" embossing. In speaking with some well-known Brookfield specialists, this blotout may be the removal of the "BROOKFIELD" embossing found doubled on some 102s. I've only come across three examples of this blotted mold in over 20 years of checking every Brookfield CD 102 I've come across. I'd say it is a true rarity as far as any Brookfield specialist is concerned. The condition on this one leaves something to be desired, with 17 damaged drips - more than half of the total number on the insulator. Unfortunately this amount of drip damage is pretty typical on these. Otherwise there is a small 5 mm BB ding on the lower wire ridge behind the left mold line. |
