This electrified "carriage" or "wagon" was patented during 1888. It was a much smaller and miniature version of the electric trolleys that were becoming novel at the time. This concept offered personal transportation in areas outside of urban vicinities. A network of dedicated overhead wiring was necessary. Perhaps some unique glass insulators were designed for this idea? I've never heard of any autos operated as such in that day. I'm sure this idea didn't get too far (no pun intended!); however, the concept might have given engineers some ideas in developing the better-known battery-operated cars that came about in the 1910s.
