A kid at heart. I remember the first time I saw Indy and loved the Staff of Ra Headpiece he used to find the Well of Souls and the location of the Ark. My son got one and I had him pick one up for me b/c he got them at a deep discount. Turns out, of course, I started researching and found, though amazing looking, the Disney park ones are not accurate in many ways b/c they combined the two varieties of them...yup two varieties ...used in the film. And you cannot see through the crystal (red, not amber as it should be) in the Disney Park one. Though it still is an amazing piece for Indy buffs. Marion's (and the Map Room) model were shiny gold with writing around the entire perimeter. The people making the movie did not like how Marion's looked for closeups, and so they had a jeweler design another one. He lessened the amount of words on one side, and the headpiece he made was more tarnished brass for better photographic characteristics for close-ups. The jeweler secretly incorporated an easter egg into his design. It is little known, but the cherubs from the Ark of the Covenant design the film used are incorporated into the design. Now that you know there are two different headpieces...watch for them next time you see the film and wonder how your eyes missed seeing them. I can understand missing the cherubs though! That hidden cherubs sold me...I had to find legit ones. Only one maker I found knew about the cherubs. Note the pics do not show how amber the movie accurate crystals look in real life. |
