I don't know where to start with this. Dick was a friend, mentor, and part of my family and life. He was the first person I met in the hobby. He and Ev spent overnights at our house. I have been to their house in Webster, NY many times. I learned a lot from Dick. We set up at many shows together early on with Kevin Lawless and others. I remember in the early 80s waiting like a maniac for his insulator lists to show up in the mail. I remember getting my first ROYAL PURPLE insulator from Dick. It was a CD 102 DIAMOND. I remember him saying "sorry D" when one was sold and "it's yours" when it was still on his list. Then the box shows up in the mail and I'd shake when I opened it. I would call Dick and chat and he was kind enough to listen to me go on, and on, and on. I remember trying to find XMAS ornaments for EV for her collection. We had hundreds of good times together. We laughed a lot. And he loved to laugh. We split on collections and share personal family stories. God, I will miss him. He was a great friend and mentor. He was kind and funny. And I was overjoyed when Dick's son-in-law Tom Palone brought Dick to Springfield. Thank you, Tom. Thank you, Dick for all the great memories. Thank you for your friendship. I will have a big hole in my heart for a long time. God bless you and your family. And now you will get NO BS forever! Love ya buddy! Dario |
