Insulators turn up in all kinds of places- on top of poles, sides of buildings, dumps, riverbanks, people's backyards- just about anywhere an insulator could end up. These two insulators turned up... in a trolley car! More specifically, they were part of a heap of retired insulators that had been stored in one of the Boston Metropolitan Transportation Authority's wire cars- and remained there, when the car was retired, and handed over to a museum. The car is currently undergoing restoration, requiring all its contents to be temporarily removed. Most of the insulators will be returned to the car when the time comes, but I got permission to keep these. Ain't those glazes purdy? If anyone knows who manufactured these insulators (I'm suspecting Thomas?), and/or what era they are from, please do tell me what you know about them! |
