Here are three ponies that I've found along the way recently, and they each have something a little different about them. On the left is a CD 104 New. Eng. Tel. & Tel. Co. that was used as a chair leg insulator causing some pretty heavy wear on top. Because it's is so worn, I can't identify the EIN. The rest of the insulator is very close to mint with just some light nibbling on part of the upper wire ridge. In the middle is a vnm CD 104 EIN sim. [030] (F-Skirt) (Arc)NEW ENG.TEL & TEL./CO. SB in Green. It's not an exact match to the Price Guide's EIN as this one has no periods whatsoever. You can see the lines on the surface from the metal lathe around most of the embossing, but there is not even a hint of a period anywhere. Click on View Original for a closer look. Damage is limited to a couple of surface scrapes on the dome. On the right is a minty CD 106 EIN [120] (F-Skirt) HEMINGRAY-9 (R-Skirt) MADE IN U.S.A. RDP in Hemingray Blue. While most of the embossing is quite bold, the 9 is almost non-existent. I don't know if this was a mold paste issue or if it was an attempt at a blotout. It's definitely different. Enjoy! |
