The spindles of these insulators were seized in the pinholes when I found them. A few months worth of acid magic ate away the rusted metal and eventually freed all three units. The warmer weather helped greatly as the acid is more effective in higher temperatures. The dryspot is a U-1939 marked for the London Midland Scottish Railway. It has a somewhat uncommon incuse that shows the Bullers "hand holding an insulator" marking without any date. The U-1540 is also an LMS and the red U-2365 (which took the longest to remove) is unmarked. |
