For those who love porcelain (like me) and care about the subtleties, here's a pair of very scarce pieces. These are both probable German-made pieces that saw use in Canada. The qualities of both are a close match to known HESCHO products, so I'm of the belief that these were made by that company. Both have high quality glazes and nearly sparkplug-quality porcelain. They have unglazed pinholes. The glaze on these ones is a little better than most, since most German-made pieces found in Canada tend to have very uniform colours.

The U-2218 signal at left is a nice, lighter-than-average brown glaze with some mottling. It has a small incuse "6" or "9" on the top, consistent with shop marks seen on many German-made pieces. It has a 1 cm flake on the outer base edge on one side, and a deep wire rub about 1.5 cm long that exposes some white porcelain on the opposite side.

The U-2582 at right is a very tough piece to find. This is the possible HESCHO-made version of the otherwise common Canadian Porcelain-made U-2582, shown here: https://www.nia.org/general/pifous/text/u2582.htm This example has a great mottle light blue glaze with some darker blue drips. There is a small, 5 mm wide flake on the upper corner of one of the ears, and a flashover scar that runs from the side groove to the base near the same spot. It displays well from one side.
