It's time to cull some shards from the boxes of threadless parts I've accumulated over the years. No, I didn't dig these ones myself, but they were likely found not too far from my home by some heritage Canadian collectors. They may have been found by the Banks or Carter Brothers and could have come from any number of SW Ontario railway lines. At left is a nice deep blue, bordering on cornflower blue, M.T.Co. CD 742 example. I recognize this as an M.T.Co. despite the missing base just because of the profile of the dome. Of course there's no way to prove it given that the entire skirt is missing. About 50 % of this insulator remains, but even the shard looks great in this deep, beautiful blue shade. At right is a larger piece of a solid blue unembossed CD 742 in the "chubby dome" mold. This one has great loopy milk swirls throughout. It does have a heavy patina from being buried. It has a couple large BB pings on same side as the break, one of them very likely causing the large chunk of skirt to be broken off. I'm asking $30 USD plus shipping for the pair of shards. I'm always happy to trade for early Canadian glass or Canadian-made porcelain insulators. I accept PayPal, or personal cheque from any member of ICON or any collector with whom I have dealt before. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or for more photos, and look through my other items or unsold sales stock to combine shipping on items. I'm also happy to deliver to the Perth, Ontario show this weekend as I will be in attendance. I hope to see everyone there! |
