Found a nice box of goodies in the mail box the other day. One of the pieces I had seen in a collection a year or so back and had mentioned that it was a "glaze test" piece. From the looks of it I doubt it passed inspection. The owner could not remember when or where he got it, but felt it had been in his collection a long time. I asked him if he could keep it out so I could take photos of it this summer when I get to visit him. Well, low and behold, he " gifted " it to me since I had shown so much interest in getting photos of it. The overall glaze looks like a spicy brown mustard with a milk chocolate syrup poured over it. The base of the piece is not glazed. The only marking is the " 1045 LAB " done with a waxy " kiln resist" crayon most likely.. Base of skirt has two flat base flakes First one of these I have seen in all these years of collecting. I think it is pretty neat.. |
