Any Hemingray historians have some insight for the timeline for the H.G. Co. (no Petticoat on back) embossed beehives? The embossing appears hand engraved so I'm guessing the mid-1890s to 1902? Where does the H dome and blank sirt or H dome and verticle bar on skirt fit into that? I'd also welcome comments on my rough outline here: Top row, L to R: H. G. Co. // Petticoat (various shop letters) - 1885-mid 1890s H dome, no skirt embossing - 1890s? H dome, vertical bar on skirt - 1890s? H. G. Co. and H on dome- 1895-1902? Before or after the H dome version? H. G. Co. and H on dome - larger, bolder embossing. Is this a later version, or just the work of a different mold engraver? Second row (Stamped embossing): HEMINGRAY // DOUBLE / PETTICOAT (stamped, SB) - 1902-1912 HEMINGRAY // DOUBLE / PETTICOAT (stamped, SDP) - 1902-1912 HEMINGRAY (stamped, SB) - 1902-1912 (concurrent with the smaller Double Petticoat type) HEMINGRAY (stamped, SDP) - 1902-1912 (concurrent with the smaller Double Petticoat type) HEMINGRAY // No. 21 (stamped, SDP) - 1912-1918 HEMINGRAY / MADE IN U.S.A. // No. 21 (stamped, SDP) - 1919-1920 Third row (tepee styles): HEMINGRAY-21 // MADE IN U.S.A. (SDP) - 1920-1923 HEMINGRAY-21 // MADE IN U.S.A. (RDP) - 1923-1930 HEMINGRAY-21 / O-4 // MADE IN U.S.A. (RDP) - has 13 dots, including one above the - and another above the 4, plus 11 dots arranged in two rows after the mold number. That would be 1947, which I believe is the final run of beehives made by Hemingray (or any other U.S. glass maker). |
