Here's a stand-out pair of signals that don't come along every day. At left is a U-272 unmarked signal in a fantastic runny mustard, caramel or butterscotch glaze - it's up to you what it should be called but Elton's book lists "mustard". Most of the piece is quite light in colour with vivid yellowish tones. Some spots where the glaze pooled exhibit a deeper brownish caramel colour. It has a filed base and is overall quite a crude piece with some glazed over flakes, cracks, and globs of excess porcelain on the base. This one originated from Saskatchewan, where these evidently saw some degree of use. It's in VNM condition with no visible damage that I can see. This one is sold! At right is a nice bright blue U-300 with the Illinois stamp on the skirt. I'm unsure how rare a piece this is, but I certainly haven't seen many turn up around here. This one was also found in Saskatchewan. It has a small 1/4" flat flake on the rear outer base edge. The mustard is sold but the U-300 is still available for $20 USD plus shipping. I'm always happy to trade for early Canadian glass or Canadian-made porcelain insulators. I accept PayPal, or personal cheque from any member of ICON or any collector with whom I have dealt before. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or for more photos, and look through my other items or unsold sales stock to combine shipping on items. |
