This [040] PATENT - DEC 19 1871 is a pretty solid Hemingray blue. I don't seem to be able to capture its colour adequately in my light box, so I've attempted to take outdoor photos. These may have turned out a bit darker than I'd like, but rest assured that this one is a nice Hemingray blue with no green tones to suggest a blue aqua colour. Note that this is the embossing variation with PATENT MAY 2 1893 in a single line on the rear skirt. I've seen a sparse handful of these surface in this area over the years, though I've never been able to discern how they were originally used.

Condition on this one is... poor. It has an 18 mm tall impact on the rear crown, with an associated bruise that encroaches on the pinhole and widens out to about 2 cm by 2 cm. It has 1 flaked drip, so on that front better than most. The awful part is that this one seems to have been sandblasted on the rear skirt, suggesting it once saw installation on a building. Still, this one would be a great place holder until a better example comes along, as it does display quite well from the PATENT DEC 19 1871 side.

I'm now asking $50 USD plus shipping for this example. I'm always happy to trade for early Canadian glass or Canadian-made porcelain insulators. I accept PayPal, or personal cheque from any member of ICON or any collector with whom I have dealt before. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or for more photos, and look through my other items or unsold sales stock to combine shipping on items.
