After two years down for mechanical work, Sumpter Valley Ry. No.19 was fired up and put back into service this last weekend. The SV runs a number of miles over their original roadbed that ran from Baker City to Prairie City, Oregon. Begun in 1890, the tracks once ran 80 miles of 3-foot mainline. The last of the track was pulled up in 1961, but enthusiasts began rebuilding the line in 1976, reacquiring much of the SV's original equipment, including this locomotive.
