It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of Bernard (Bernie) Warren. He passed away last night in Anchorage, Alaska and would have been 91 on December 12. He was a dear friend, neighbor, mentor, traveling companion, and sometimes even a competitor as we each traveled to France over 30 times in the past 25 years collecting French and other European insulators. I first met Bernie in Anchorage in 1986 about a year after I started collecting insulators and I had the opportunity to acquire a large collection of Australian insulators as he had made many trips to Australia after he retired from the Anchorage school district as a school principal. During 1994-1995, we made three trips together to Uruguay and Argentina where we found the first known iron clad P. Walters & Co. insulators on a short line near the Brazilian border. We will all miss his companionship and his enthusiastic spirit for collecting insulators. -Jim, Lis, and Elisabeth Bergman
