Common insulator, not-so-common original tie wire. I don't think I've handled many original tie wires as nice as this one. It appears to have been used where iron wire and copper wire met, with one side having had iron wire in the air, and the other copper wire. Both are spliced together. It's a mess! The insulator itself is just a standard medium aqua B CD 145 with '00' on the dome top. I found this one in a gopher hole near Guelph, ON about a decade ago and have decided that it may be better off in the hands of another collector who won't keep it in a box.

The insulator is in great shape with no chips or cracks. It has some significant mineral damage on parts of the skirt and crown. Interestingly the mineral damage doesn't cross a straw mark in one spot, suggesting the glass composition was not uniform and differs from one side of the straw mark to the other. There's just a lot of history in this one and I think it's great. Hopefully someone else does too!

There's just a lot of history in this one and I think it's great. Hopefully someone else does too! I'm asking $50 USD plus shipping for it. I'm always happy to trade for early Canadian glass or Canadian-made porcelain insulators. I accept PayPal, or personal cheque from any member of ICON or any collector with whom I have dealt before. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or for more photos, and look through my other items or unsold sales stock to combine shipping on items. Condition
