Here's a tie wire type that I don't see nice examples of often. The Canadian Pacific used these flat strap tie wires occasionally in this area, and possibly elsewhere in Canada. I've been told before that these were a Western Union standard tie wire design, but I really don't see many of them compared to the typical wire ties. This one is attached to a nice mint light straw Dominion 42. The Dominion is still sooty, but a nice long lye bath would likely clean it up without affecting the copper wire, should you be so inclined. I'm now asking $18 USD plus shipping for this piece. I'm always happy to trade for early Canadian glass or Canadian-made porcelain insulators. I accept PayPal, or personal cheque from any member of ICON or any collector with whom I have dealt before. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or for more photos, and look through my other items or unsold sales stock to combine shipping on items. |
