This community was served by the New England Telephone and Telegraph Company. By comparison, some other cities and towns in nearby southeast Massachusetts and on Cape Cod were served by the Southern Massachusetts Telephone Company during the late 1880s through until 1938 when the latter was fully absorbed by New England Telephone. They were buying So. Mass. Tel. exchanges one at a time commencing around 1900. Their last exchange was in city of Brockton, MA.
