In a place known more for dust and heat than moisture, one of the big K's stands in front of the Red Devil coal loader after taking on fuel for the continued trip over 10,000 foot Cumbres Pass. Done here, the lead locomotive will proceed down track to the old water tank. allowing the second locomotive to get coal and follow to the tank. Photo shot Sept. 1964, courtesy of John West.
