The latter were used for many years. They have standard one-inch pinholes and on some of them you can see J.M. Anderson, Boston, Mass. lettering right around the base of the pinhole. Many similar lines are still standing and since the 1960s standard light gray porcelain pintype insulators have been used. On the right is a typical Boston Edison pole with 4kv primary or secondary circuits leading down its side. These cables connected to an underground feed and utilized "potheads" on their lowermost crossarm to join the overhead cable leading down to the underground feeder. |
