Here's a pair of CD 143s with original iron tie wires still attached. From my experience it's relatively rare to find an original iron tie wire attached to any CD 143s. These two were found by my dad and I c. 2004 or so, and I've finally decided that they may be better off in someone else's shelves. The example at left is the scarce smooth based style of "G.N.W.DWIGHT". The entire rear skirt is missing, and the front skirt has been restored from several shards I found nearby. No sign of the rear skirt unfortunately. It's a good G.N.W.DWIGHT filler if you don't have one, and I have to say I've never seen another example with an original tie wire. At right is a rounded base unembossed CD 143. It has a large piece of the skirt and the dome top re-glued but both repairs look quite good. This isn't a rare insulator on its own, but it is scarce with an original wire. Now asking $24 USD plus shipping for the pair. I'm always happy to trade for early Canadian glass or Canadian-made porcelain insulators. I accept PayPal, or personal cheque from any member of ICON or any collector with whom I have dealt before. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or for more photos, and look through my other items or unsold sales stock to combine shipping on items. |
