Here is some neat weird radio insulator items. First and at the bottom is a composition rams horn type radio guy wire insulators. I purchased these from a company that had new old stock and they said that is what was marked on the package. Unfortunatly it didn't say who the manufacturer was. The insulator itself is only 2 3/4" with the whole piece being 6" long. Would love to see these in use or a patent on them. Middle top is a Birnbach 468 Diapole Center strain insulator, below that is the Birnbach No. 668 Line to house insulator. Next is one of the weirdest strains. Nicknamed The Christmas tree for obvious reasons, this was made by W.B. Mfg. Co. NY. as an air pocket insulator. It is actually two pieces that is cemented together and has an air pocket between the two inside to create a dry spot to reduce leakage. Really neat. |
