On a deeply frozen December morning in 1961, K-36's 480 and 488 pound their way south out of Alamosa, heading for Antonito and 10,000 foot high Cumbres Pass beyond. I never understood why the D&RG telegraph ran five wires, but this was typical all the way to Chama, and maybe beyond? Photo courtesy of John West.
