This post shows three different "strain" insulators which were used in a West Des Moines, Iowa industrial area. In 1974, I purchased a box of 11 Johnny Ball insulators at the Des Moines Salvation Army thrift store. I was told that they came from a person that recovered them in West Des Moines from a power line that was re-built. The picture shows the following: CD-1138 No Embossing - Teal Blue - Crude With Bubbles (Left) CD-1138 No Embossing - Ice Aqua - Crude With Bubbles - Slightly Large Than The Teal (Middle) CD-1140 No Embossing - Dark Blue Aqua - Crude With Bubbles - Large Variant (Right) Although these insulators are not rare, especially in the 1970's, I wanted to document the fact that they were found in Iowa. I'm thinking that these "strains" were made by Brookfield. Several views will be posted.
