Besides all the other Junk I collect; I also have a strong attraction to Hamm's Beer Motion Signs. Though this particular sign has no motion nor movement like the 1965 Hamm's Rippler, it is a hard sign to come by. Dated from the 1960s this sign was manufactured for Hamm's solely for marketing Hamm's Beer here on the west coast in an attempt to compete with Olympia Beer. The sign as seen here, is in its "As Found" state and has not been cleaned nor has any restoration work been performed. It does however have a few issues that will be painfully corrected. Likely the most visible problem is the missing Pine Tree on the Hamm's logo. Also, there is a gold colored finial missing that would sit on top of the house like structure. The good news is the frame is free from cracks. When I first saw this sign one of the first things that popped into my head was, I wonder if John De Sousa owns or ever owned a boat like the one pictured here? I believe the boat shown here may be a Chris-Craft? The photo was taken on a lake in Wisconsin based upon the boat registration letters. Guess they did not want to use any of the lakes here on the west coast. This may be one of the reasons the beer did not sell well.
