Hook & Eye lightning rod conductors where installed in the early 1800's mostly to protect church steeples. Only a few of these systems are left in the country with several in New England and also in Charleston, South Carolina. My section of rod was installed in 1825 on Old South Congregational Church in Hartford, Connecticut and was removed several years ago. Picture of my mounted Hook & Eye and Pics 2 & 3 are examples in use here in Connecticut. It was sight to see these historical Hook & Eye systems that protected churches for 200+ years. Note: These rods are 3/4 inch in diameter and lengths are 20-30 feet from hook to eye.
