Up for sale is a great-looking pair of heavy-duty brackets used along an early power installation here in Ontario. I have seen these brackets with examples of M-2340 Ohio Brass cemented on. Pictures show both the front and rear side of each bracket. The bracket at left is a simply fixed cone with only a four digit number embossed on one side. Unfortunately I cannot read what it says due to the rust, though it could probably be cleaned up a bit. The bracket itself measures roughly 7 1/4" tall by 6 1/2" wide across the base, not including the bolts and the lower portion. It is 1" across at the top of the shank and was used with 1 3/8" pinhole insulators. The crossarm it was used with appears to have been roughly 4 1/2 x 5" based on the current adjustments of the bolts. The bolts are rusted into place but could probably be freed up with the right TLC. The bracket at right is one of the unusual "Smith Grip" variety and is embossed on the shank: 9431 PAT FEB 11 08 (At least I think so. All but the last two digit number are clear) Its measurements are roughly the same as the first bracket. Unfortunately it also has rusted-on bolts. I'm asking $100 USD plus shipping (probably about $30 USD) for the pair of these unusual brackets. I'm always happy to trade for early Canadian glass or Canadian-made porcelain insulators. I accept PayPal, or personal cheque from any member of ICON or any collector with whom I have dealt before. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or for more photos, and look through my other items or unsold sales stock to combine shipping on items. |
