I was able to snag the X sign in this picture. From what I've been told AEP uses these to mark where a pole lead begins and ends as well as when it crosses another pole line. I believe it's more for people in the sky rather than on the ground. The sign has "Burdick Chicago" in small print on it. I believe it's very old.
