Here's a pair of RARE porcelain no-tie insulators made circa 1890-1910. Left to Right: U-2017A Marked CP which is an abbreviation for Caminhos de Ferro Portugal (Portugal Railroad). These are rarely seen or offered! Much rarer than typical unmarked ones found in Spain. Has surface glaze crazing on front (seen in photo) and rear skirt and one hook - one goes across the base and stops. Some light wear on the raised seal with light glaze scratches. Teeny tic mark and two small fleabites on one hook. Measures 3 3/16" x 5 5/8" tall. Has 1" pinhole! (Right) U-2017 white no-tie is most likely an unmarked Buller Jobson & Co and is shown in their 1898 catalog as number EI 398. Excellent condition with only a small chip on one hook and two wire rub marks with rust stain. Teeny scuff mark on skirt with reflection on skirt beside it. Measures only 2 7/8" wide x 5" 3/16" tall (variation from NIA website and smallest found to date!). 1/2" pinhole. First email gets these very desirable historic porcelain no-tie insulators: Thanks! |
