The lower three crossarms were toll connections from Scituate, Cohasset and Norwell connecting to Rockland, MA, about 6 miles to the east. This toll route was converted to enclosed-pairs in the 1930s and basically is still there except the original lead-sheathed cable was replaced at some time with plastic covered cable.
