A rarely seen glass color among insulator manufacturers, except California, is the smoke color. Many California glass colors can have a smoky quality to them, and the "pure" smoke ones can have a brownish or blackish cast to them. A very small subset of the California smokes are very dark like this CD 161 I found on eBay around 2003. No soot on this one that is all cleaned up. A box of dark smoke Cal CD 166's was offered at an early Cayucos Show.
