The above initials stand for the Edison Electric Illuminating Co. of Boston and the company served many communities in the Boston metro and suburban area. In 1938 the utility was purchased by the Boston Edison Company. Their original service territory still stands in place (that is, none of their cities or towns served were sold), presently owned by Eversource.

The top and the barely-visible bottom crossarms carried fire alarm signal circuits.
