My wife and I were born and raised in Iowa. After spending six years in the US Air Force and completing graduate school at the University of Iowa, we moved from Iowa City, Iowa to Haverford, PA in 1975. In 1988 before our two children were old enough to start school, we made a yearly 1275 mile trip back to Iowa to visit grandparents and relatives. Our trip generally took us West on I-76 and than West on I-70 /I-80 to Des Moines and Boone, IA. In 1989, we stayed off I-70 near Zanesville, Ohio. I was lucky enough to find and purchase a nice CD 162.5 P.L.W. in a local antique shop. The owner told me that the insulator was found locally on the Pennsylvania Railroad line which ran through Zanesville. The details on this insulator are as follows; CD-162.5 B on the skirt - P.L.W. on the top of the dome - 3 piece mold - Deep Teal Blue Green - Measures 83 mm wide x 104 mm tall. I'll also post a picture of the CD 162.5 dome [id=609283711] with the P.L.W. and a Library of Congress 1891 map [id=609283949]. showing the Pennsylvania Lines West Railroad routes West from Pittsburgh, PA to St. Louis, MO and Chicago, IL. Note: I received e-mail from an ICON member - Jack Snyder. The picture he sent titled "Here is my ZANESVILLE & WESTERN RY CONDUCTORS HAT circa 1907" was really cool and fits well with this post [id=576474924] [id=609537348] [id=609537492]. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. |
