The next few posts will cover various insulators which were unique to the Southern Railroad (often called Georgia Southern Railroad) and were not found on the Central of Georgia Railroad. Most of my collecting was on the Southern Railway route from Macon, GA South to Savanna, GA. My best collecting location was in Dodge County between Gresston, GA and Eastman, GA. The unique telegraph style insulators included: CD 153 Brookfield; CD 169 Whitall Tatum No. 4; CD 157 Hemingray 38 and CD 157 Brookfield. The fifth post will cover the back side of the CD 157 Hemingray No. 38 CD-157 Hemingray / No. 38 (Front) Patented / May 2 1893 (Back) - Sharp Drip Point - 3 Piece Mold - Deep Blue Aqua With a Small Section of Wire In The Dome. There were a moderate number of the CD 157 Hemingray No. 38 insulators found on the Gresston, GA section of the Southern Railroad. All told, I harvested about 15 or so - again they made for good trading stock. |
