The next few posts will cover various insulators which were unique to the Southern Railroad (often called Georgia Southern Railroad) and were not found on the Central of Georgia Railroad. Most of my collecting was on the Southern Railway route from Macon, GA South to Savanna, GA. My best collecting location was in Dodge County between Gresston, GA and Eastman, GA. The unique telegraph style insulators included: CD 153 Brookfield; CD 169 Whitall Tatum No. 4; CD 157 Hemingray 38 and CD 157 Brookfield. The third post will cover the front of the CD 157 Brookfield. CD-157 Brookfield - 3 Piece Mold - Teal Blue With Amber Streak On Side Of The Skirt There were a good number of the CD 157 Brookfield insulators found on the Gresston, GA section of the Southern Railroad. All told, I harvested about two dozen or so - again they made for good trading stock. The CD 157 Brookfield was only found in this teal blue shade of aqua. As a point of interest, there were large numbers of CD 145 "B" insulators, some aqua CD 145 H.G. Co Petticoat and a few CD 145 Hemingray No. 21 insulators in a Blue Aqua color. |
