COVID BLUES – Insulator reminder of insulator hunts.

I have been looking through my insulators, dreaming of the new beauties I HAVE to have and turning the coveted beauties of years past into dreaded and scorned SALES STOCK.

While looking through all of the glass I own, I came across my most prized box. These are mostly very common but they are souvineres of good times. I came across these two which reminded me of my two hunting buddies. The last names have been omitted to protect their identity. The one on the left was a free-bee. Dan set-up a trip to a Wyoming dump in which we were going to look at the old poles we had heard about over a year before. The odd thing about the trip is that we actually gained access to a mountain of old poles and insulators still attached. We were there searching and finding all commons, wondering what we would have to pay. After about 10 min. the yard supervisor decided that the person that granted us permission did not check with him, so we were informed that we had to leave, But the story was true, there was a mountain of poles. I only snagged this one, but it is proof and a cool memory.

The second insulator was also found in Wyoming when I was hunting with my buddy Mike. We were walking along a newer line. I picked up several that day, all very common. This was the best one that I found. I remember I found it in some very loose black cinders or soil. The day was otherwise un-eventful, but it sure was a nice hike in the Wyoming wild.
