How do I determine if this wild CANPAC CD 143 color is real? I tried using steel wool to remove any coating with zero success! I haven't tried any acids yet. It could be some liquid resin coating? Update: I've been advised to try lacquer thinner. I'll give it a try!

The red color inside thread area is similar to the stuff you find on the inside of Maydwell milkglass insulators. I haven't tried to remove it yet.

FINAL ANSWER: FAKE!! International seller claimed it was real. Mineral spirits didn't work- even after 4 days, but using oxalic acid provided a quick 24 hour answer! After I clean it up I will post an "After" photo.
