It was another beautiful day out and I wasn't going to be stuck inside, So I revisited the spot where my suspension collecting all started. This rail trail used to be the electrified Atglen and Susquehanna Branch of the Pennsylvania Railroad. It was built in 1906 as part of their low grate freight route to bypass the main line, and was abandoned by Conrail in 1989. The steel transmission poles were put up in 2011 to replace the deteriorating PRR catenary poles, and that will be another series of pictures at some point. Here is the site of the New Providence substation that was torn down in the 90s. Nothing remains of it other than foundations. |
