Picked this up in a nearby antique store a couple weeks ago. It is a U-298. What grabbed my attention was the small incused embossing. I had not seen it before. Turns out to be a double stamped Pinco mark. The letters are barely 1/8" tall. Doing a little research in Elton's book shows Pinco used a small mark around 1930. I can see why they didn't keep it long, it's bloody hard to read. Are these common in some parts of the country? Do they come in any other color besides dark brown? Thanks Roger |
