I picked up this cast iron Cable type insulator this past weekend. It has no maker nor manufacturing marks other than an embossed number "805080XR" near the upper front crown. Not really sure what to make of it. None the less, it is a looker. With that said, I now turn to my friends on ICON to help out with the what, when, where why and how this hunk of iron that weighs 5 to 7 pound may have been used. Unlike its counterparts of glass and porcelain, this insulator shows no signs of chips, nicks, bruises, dings, fish eyes, saddle wear or flea bites. And, it does not pass light well at all.
